Moody Bank Wealth Management & Trust has served clients, including our founding families, for generations because we’re good at what we do. Chartered in Texas in 1927, we’re proud to be one of state’s oldest and largest trust departments, responsible for more than $30 billion in assets. As head of Moody National Bank Wealth Management & Trust, John Smith is dedicated to giving personal service and always doing what is in the client’s best interest. He and his team of professionals have a wide range of experience and certifications to stay abreast of the most current issues and regulations that impact wealth management and trust to best guide their clients.

Having worked in trust banking since 1989, and holding senior management positions, John is experienced in a variety of personal and professional issues. His trust and estate administration career includes working with high net and ultra-high net worth clients.

Stephanie McGee believes in giving personal service as she works with individuals and foundations to achieve their Trust investment goals. She brings more than 20 years of experience in bank finance and investment portfolio management to her role as Trust Investment Officer for Moody Bank Wealth Management & Trust.

Stephanie is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has experience as a bank chief financial officer, investment portfolio manager and community bank business consultant. This experience helps her to develop plans, track trends and manage investments for her Trust clients.

Toby, a Houston area native, has more than 25 years of wealth management, estate settlement and trust administration experience. He brings his skills as a Certified Financial Planner professional (CFP®) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) to help his clients look at the whole picture. He not only explains how their personal trust, estate settlement, IRA and institutional trust accounts work, but how those accounts may impact other areas, including taxes, insurance, retirement and estate planning.

LISA L. CURNUTT, J.D.
Senior Vice President

Lisa has honed her analytical, problem-solving and wealth management skills over the years as both an attorney and a trust and asset administrator. During 18 years in law, she focused on estate planning, probate, real estate, oil and gas, and trusts. Based on that solid foundation, Lisa has built a career as a trust and asset administrator. For more than 10 years she has specialized in estate and private trust administration and private asset management. That experience comes in handy as she works with her clients and their lawyers and certified public accountants to craft personalized plans to meet their goals.

Doctor of Jurisprudence, Texas Tech University School of Law; Bachelor of Business Administration in finance, Angelo State University

STEPHEN R. SOPER, CFP®, CTFA, CRC®
Senior Vice President

As a Senior Wealth Manager, Stephen is responsible for working with high-net and ultra-high-net worth individuals, as well as, institutional clients to develop personal investment policy statements, assist with portfolio management, and advise on retirement, trust and estate planning issues.  Stephen provides financial planning services to build, manage, protect, and transition client’s wealth. Stephen has over 27 years of experience in the financial field working with an institutional money management firm in Connecticut, and major commercial banks in New York, California, and Connecticut. Previously, Stephen was a University Finance and International Business Professor at UCLA Extension and National University in Los Angeles CA, and at the University of Politécnico Grancolombiano and University of Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.
